James Fradet
As told by James Fradet, nephew
PFC James Louis Fradet jumped on D-Day with his band of brothers in the 82nd Airborne.
He was born to Fred and Sarah Fradet in Bemidji MN. They had 13 children and he was one of the youngest. My Dad John Fradet was Jim's older brother and he named me after him.
Jim enlisted in the army Feburary 1942. He had not graduated from high school but chose the paratroopers because they were very well paid (his Dad had died), and he knew everyone in his team would be well trained to fight and kill the Natzi enemy.
After surviving 2 years of grueling training at Curahee Jim made his family proud. He and his band of brothers were fit, well trained
and eager to destroy the Natzi man to man. Let Freedom Shine. This boy from Bemidji High was ready to do his part.
Company A 507th parachute infantry regiment 82n Airborne dropped into chaos on D-Day. Being among the last PIR's to drop the German Anti Aircraft guns were causing havoc in the drop zones.
He was killed on June 21, 1944
